Ariat partners with 'Yellowstone' for a Dutton-style Western Line

There may be a handful more days until Season 5 of “Yellowstone” returns to screens on Sunday, Nov. 10, but you don’t have to wait any longer to dress like the Duttons.

Ariat, the iconic Western boot and apparel brand, has partnered up with Paramount’s hit series for a fashion collab that is a match made in Cowboy Heaven — or, Montana, to be exact.

The beloved “Yellowstone” series follows the lives of the Dutton family, who run the largest ranch in the country and find no shortage of scandals along the way; murders, heartbreak, moving borders, and more revolving generational plotlines that have kept fans kicking up their heels since 2018.

Pieces of the iconic Ariat X Yellowstone line will be worn by cast members in the continuation of season 5, and fans can shop the looks on Ariat and Amazon.

The show’s lead costume designer, Johnetta Boone, is the mastermind behind the new collection that weaves tales from Dutton dynasty drama with Ariat’s revered designs.

“As a heritage Western brand that’s known and trusted by the Western community, Ariat was the perfect partner for this project,” Boone explained in a Nov. 1 press release.

While there’s plenty of down-and-dirty wrangler attire in the mix, the designers have outfitted a range of silhouettes equally suited for cosmopolitans looking to integrate a genuine Western vibe into their style; everything from denim shirts and barn jackets to cozy flannels, vintage cowboy boots, cable-knit sweaters, and straight-leg jeans.

“My vision was to create something that was firmly rooted in authentic Western culture, while at the same time inviting those from the outside to embrace the places and stories they’ve become so immersed in while watching ‘Yellowstone,'” Boone stated.

The acclaimed costume designer has sprinkled her own subtle, yet defining touches to each piece. Yet, Ariat’s signature performance-driven technology has not been lost in them. Many designs from the collection are built to withstand weather conditions and offer support for those on their feet all day long.

The Ariat brand, which takes its name from the racehorse “Secretariat” was founded in 1993 as “The New breed of Boot.” First designed to integrate athletic footwear into boots for equestrians, today the company is making boots and apparel for all types of outdoor work environments — ranching among them.

Given the brand’s prevalence in Western communities, Ariat apparel has appeared organically in “Yellowstone” scenes for years. But, Ariat’s Chief Product Officer, Megan Iwersen said the exclusive line with Boone has helped give the brand even more visibility for those captivated by the American West.

“Johnetta helped us develop Western looks that both honor our heritage and deliver a modern aesthetic for anyone wanting to incorporate a bit of Western flair into their wardrobe,” Iwerson added.

It’s no surprise that Ariat has already started selling out of some new “Yellowstone” styles.

Cowboy couture is on the up and up this year, partially thanks to pop culture icons like Lana Del Rey and Beyonce churning out chart-topping, pop-country hits.

Pinterest data revealed searches for “country glam” have skyrocketed 8,700% from last year, and queries for “Western-style outfits” jumped 418%. A 2024 report from the RealReal showed interest in vintage Levi’s denim and fringed leather has increased by nearly 70%.

“The global Western wear trend has continued to make an impact in fashion, and we couldn’t be more proud of this partnership bringing the authentic ‘Yellowstone’ lifestyle to fans everywhere,” said Jose Castro, EVP of Consumer Products and Experiences at Paramount.
